Porco Rosso:
Porco Rosso is a film made by Studio Ghibli, it was
set in Italy during the first world war. The main plot of the movie is about an anthropomorphic
pig (Porco Rosso) who is an ex-fighter pilot and is now a bounty hunter and is
highly detested by the sky pirates. So, then he is ambushed by an American
pilot (Donald Curtis) who claimed and thought that he killed Porco, when only
destroying his plane. While Porco went to repair his plane, he faces a budget
so he and Curtis have a dogfight with a wager of repaying Porco’s bills or Fio’s(the designer of porco's new plane) Hand in marriage.
Because of how this movie in set in Europe, the movie
and music has a European flavour to it, thus adding a spice to the Studio Ghibli style everyone is used to
My favourite character in this film is Fio, the
designer of Porco’s new plane, I love how she never gives up and is persisting
on completing the plane. My favourite scene is when everyone is working to fix
Porco’s plane. I like how since its set early on, it shows how women is capable
of doing things men can.
I truly enjoyed this movie and regretted avoiding
it for the past 2 years, it has kept me up till midnight, binge-watching the 90
minute film.
