The Wind Rises

The Wind Rises is currently the 4th most recent Studio Ghibli film, a biographical film and currently Miyazaki's last film. It is about a young boy Jiro Hiroshimi who wanted to become a pilot but his shortsightedness prevents it. Then one day, he had a dream about an aircraft designer named Giovannci Caproni who stated that he never flew a plan before but is a successful aircraft designer so Jiro decides to become one himself.

5 Years later, Jiro meets a girl named Naoko, who is travelling with her maid. Soon after, an earthquake hits, the maid's leg is broken and Jiro had to carry her to Naoko's family and left without giving his name.

When Jiro graduates, he was assigned to design a fighter plane sponsored by the Japanese Imperial Army, however, the plane broke during the flight test and was denied by the army. He is later promoted to chief and submits another design to also again get rejected. Being disappointed he goes to a resort and meets Naoka again and they become he proposes to marry her, however she declines this offer due to her having tubercolosis and refuses to marry until she recovers.

Later Jiro is wanted by the Secret Japanese police for connection with a Nazi Leader so he hides in his supervisors home while he works on more projects. While this happens Naoko leaves a sanatorium to spend her last days with Jiro but knows that she will die in the process.

This is one of the most romantic movies from Studio Ghibli. My favourite scene in this movie was when Naoko caught Jiro's Hat and later in the movie where he caught her umbrella and hat. I loved how the theme of aircraft contributed to their love together.

My favourite character in this movie is Naoko, I like her because she brought the flavour of romance to the movie, if it weren't for her, I wouldn't of enjoyed this movie about designing planes and whatnot.

I finished this movie with tears in my eyes and I guarantee that it'd fill your eyes too.

Whisper Of the Heart:

Whisper of the heart is one of the more romantic films of Studio Ghibli.

It is about a girl - Shizuki Tsukishima and a boy Seiji Amasawa who is in her year. Shizuki is a bookworm and goes to the library every single day, she then finds out that all of the checkout cards on the library books have one name in common - Seiji Amasawa. When Shizuki finds a cat on a train, she decides to follow it and stumbles upon an antique shop owned by an old man named Nishi and soon finds out that Seiji Amasawa is the grandson of Nishi. 2 days after Seiji and Shizuki meet, Seiji announces he's going to move to Italy for 2 months to follow his dreams to be a Master Luthier (Someone who builds/repairs string instruments). When he leaves, Shizuki wonders what is her talent is and decides to write a book within the 2 months before he comes back, making her neglect studies and lowering her result.

This was in my opinion a very sweet and innocent movie. I loved the entire plot and how romantic it was, however I believed that the ending was rushed and Seiji proposing to Shizuki had spoiled the overall experience for me.
My favourite Character in this film is Nishi, although he doesnt play a big role in the movie, what he says to Shizuki
